Unteressex was located at the Victorian Battery 'Longis Lines' on the south-eastern end of Longis Bay. The battery has German weapon positions across its whole length, a two-way 60cm searchlight bunker, a gun emplacement, personnel bunkers and several smaller positions. Apart from the trench at the rear of the battery the site survives wholly intact, even earth positions being visible.
