Dolmen was the primary anti-aircraft position for the north of the island. It was located near the golf course on the western end of L'Ancresse bay. It was the most developed of the batteries, built entirely to Fortress standard. It was positioned in such a way that it aided neighboring resistance nests and strongpoints in defense of the bay against landings, and probably contributed to the cancellation of the resistance nests Pembrocke, Martl. Tower, and Krahenn.
It survives largely intact today, although most of the emplacements are covered. Festung Guernsey looks after one L401 emplacement, L403 command post, and L405 generator bunker.
