Heavy Flak Battery Gabelsberg is located at Saint Germain, overlooking Vazon Bay. The site was one of six such installations. Most works here were built to RFO standards. Following the war quarrying activity resumed and all 8.8 cm flak positions were destroyed. Today the only surviving remains fall on private land. Please do not visit without permission. The site can be seen from various angles without access. A visit to some bunkers were made prior to the sale of the land.

Rangefinder post with the garage extruding from the right side. Visible to the right of this construction we see the site's Command Post which featured a radar atop the roof.
Rangefinder with access to the radar level.
A barrier straddles the path.
An interesting, non standardized, post for a rangefinder. It features several shelters around the main position as well as a garage attached to the left of the entrance.
Nice colours inside the rangefinders garage.
With access to the position above.
Partly a wood store.
One of two of this very rare Luftwaffe casemate for 2cm Flak. The other is located at Wn. Perleberg. Each of the two are mirrored versions of each other, this featuring the Tobruk on the right side. Condition is decent but full of old rubbish.Β
Hidden away. No metal bar and incomplete gutter differs it significantly from the other of this type.
Overgrown entrance for integrated Tobruk.
From above.
Different plate to its sister.
Heavy door, same as the other. Very rusty.
Celling like this not uncommon on Guernsey.
Unsure what this marking was for. Looks German.
Lots of armoured pieces around the Scharte.
Different munitions room. More square. Entrance defence plate on right.
Leaving this very rare bunker type.
Scharte.
