Overview
Generaloberst Dollmann was constructed at Pleinmont, and intended to be one of the modern 15cm SK C28 batteries. In the event, this never happened, and as was the case at Jerbourg instead 22cm WW1 French artillery pieces were used. Here however, the battery would never be transferred to the Navy and instead remained under the control of the army. This necessitated a different rangefinding system to what was standard on the M132, therefore instead of the armored pieces, two concrete levels were added on-top for observation and rangefinding. Most works at the battery survive today and one emplacement has been restored.
The battery was named after Freidrich Dollmann, a high ranking German officer. He is believed to have committed suicide on June 28th 1944 after being threatened court marshal by Hitler for failing to slow the allied advance out of Normandy.
