The bunker constructed here at Fort George was designed to house line-of-sight multiplex telephone equipment, and was part of the Luftwaffe early warning station 'Anderschloss'. The Dezimetergerät operated on a frequency of 500-2000 Mhz, and converted telephone audio waves into light which was transmitted using an optical device similar to a Lichtsprechgerät 80/80. Two Dezimetergerät-Stand bunkers were constructed, one here at Fort George and one in Alderney at Quatre Vents. They had a clear line of sight of each other allowing for the uninterrupted transmission of signals from Alderney to Guernsey, which due to the seabed, Alderney could not be linked via submarine cable. The bunker is a proper 600 series design with walls of two meters, but does not have a Regeltyp number.
