By design an observation post was a structure intended to shelter the crew of an observation position, as well as providing equipment to assist in their role. These are different from Marine Peilstands in that these were smaller army positions, all built to RFO, whereas the huge MP tower installations were typically Fortress Standard and always crewed by the navy, also serving the purpose of rangefinding.
