The designers of the fortifications carefully considered the best layout of the bunkers & guns, and eventually settled on fortifying specific areas heavily. Each of these areas could work as one and defend a set area. Typically Resistance Nests are found in bays or sometimes inland. Rarely do they occupy headlands. They can range in size from a few trenches and guns, to multiple Casemates and supporting bunkers. The German for Resistance Nest, Wiederstandnest, may be used interchangeably on this site.
Guernsey has 65 Resistance Nests, spread all across the island. On this website it has been divided into North, South, East, West for simplicity. Please acknowledge that it is possible that I have missed a Resistance Nest. If you think this is an issue please contact me via eMail.
