This bunker-type is a very rare example, one of a handful in the world that you can visit. It is located in Alderney and is a type 118b, fitted out as a hospital. It opened as a museum on 6th July 2024.Β
It was built in 1943 as Alderney's main hospital bunker. Post war it was utilized by the Militia Cadets and Civil Defence, so the restoration is lengthy.
One of the entrances to this bunker. The Germans had structures built up against the sides during the occupation.
