Schwere Geschütz-Stand S?-Type Emplacement for 30.5cm Naval Cannon
This emplacement has no known type number, and is built to full 'Fortress' standard. It was designed to accommodate 30.5cm K.14(r) barrels, which originated from a battleship of the Imperial Russian Navy, they were installed in new turrets emplaced in this position. It could accommodate the entire compliment for each gun emplacement, as well as ammunition storage, machinery and washrooms. Four were constructed at the Mirus battery on Guernsey. Today, one is in the care of Festung Guernsey, another lies in the grounds of a private house, another a school, and the final is used for Battletec. They are the largest bunkers in the Channel Islands by concrete used.
