Wn. Dohlenfeste was located inside Fort Doyle, which sits on a small headland between Crabby bay and Platte Saline Bay. This was the smallest Victorian fort on the island. It was a heavily defended position, featuring primarily RFO constructions. A Wa. Pruef. 514 personnel bunker is also found here. There is also a fortress standard R676 here. The primary artillery pieces were two 4.7cm Pak K36(t) guns found in casemates, one in the R676 and the other in an RFO casemate. The site survives well and has recently been cleared and made available to the public.

Entrance to the Victorian battery.
Some 'Czech Hedgehogs' survive and other small defences. The R676 is visible behind here, and Pzm-12 stretching towards Tourgis.
Inside, the R676 is completely stripped apart from the fuseboxes. The hole in the floor leads out into a pit in front of the bunker used to store spent shells.
But with a clear number.
Inside the fort we find several RFO MG bunkers and positions.
Here is an MG post that also features a Tobruk.
From the outside.
And the Tobruk.
Some weapons pit. Or perhaps even optics.
The area behind is covered with trenches. The Germans demolished some houses here.
Some trenches get very narrow.
Machine gun again.
A tidy Wellblech.
A Tobruk with a clean number. 581.
Bombproof, not gas proof.
A machine gun went here.
This bunker is one of three of this type built on the island. Sometimes refered to as a U/Wakofest, the name means Island Type 514. This is a very well-preserved example.
Connects to the trench system at both ends.
With nice fittings. We aren't sure if the panelling is original and repainted or if the bunker has been re-panelled. Renovation was still happening when we visited.
Instructions in the ventilation room.
The ventilation room is a mess.
