Overview
The major strongpoint at Fort Tourgis was established to defend against landings at Platte Sailine, and Clonque Bay Beach. It worked in conjunction with defenses at Wn. Dohlenfeste, Wn Steinfeste and Wn. Müllerhof. A 2cm flak position was established ontop of the barracks, and a cable switching position (E3) in the grounds. They refurbished much of the old barracks, and constructed a searchlight position among the old battery, capable of covering Platte Sailine, and a portion of Clonque Bay. Below, a 10.5cm K331(f) was housed inside a Jägerstand, covering Platte Sailine, and another on the western face covering Clonque Bay, this time a 670. Tunnels were constructed and expanded, running under the ramparts and connecting the casemates to the battery above.
With the exception of the scrap drive, much of the site remains very well preserved. Various developments have been suggested for the derelict Victorian fortress, but all have fallen through. Please take care when visiting as portions of the site are dangerous.
