Established within the grounds of Fort George, the Georgsfeste battery was armed with four 10cm howitzers. It was one of the harbour blocking batteries established by 1944, and comprised extensive works. Connecting the emplacements and ammunition shelters were covered granite passages. The battery observation and command post was established atop the earlier Town Point Battery, near Belvedere House, while a tank turret Tobruk a short distance away in the grounds of Montville House acted as another battery observation position. Following air raids targeting the radar installation at Anderschloss in 1944, the site was transferred to Havilland Hall, although only rudimentary earthworks were conducted here.
Post war redevelopment has cleared much of the Fort George site, but the firecontrol at Town Point Battery is still visible, as well as various pieces of concrete throughout the fort. There are no remains known at Havilland Hall.
