Overview
Georgsfeste was designed as a 10cm Howitzer battery to cover St Peter Port. The guns were originally emplaced in the grounds of Fort George, and an extensive system of covered trenches was constructed out of granite setts. The command post was constructed atop an older section of the fort. All works at the battery were to Vf standard. Large sections of the battery survive in the grounds of Belvedere House, but a significant portion of the battery has been destroyed by development.
Following air-raids on the radar station at Fort George in 1944, the battery was moved inland to Havilland Hall, and the Fort George site abandoned. There is believed to be no remains at Fort George.
