Clarence Battery Resistance Nest

Overview

This resistance nest gets its name from the tunnel running below it (Ho.8). Its primary armament was a 10.5cm K331(f) positioned at the end of the tunnel. Significant fortifications were made inside the Clarence Battery itself. Almost the entire site survives.

Purpose

Defend against troops landing on both sides of Les Terres Point. Defensive efforts focussed below Fort George and Havelet Bay.
