Overview
Golfwerk was one of several coastal defence installations positioned to defend L'Ancresse Bay.Β The site was built to 'Fortress' standard, having two bunkers of this type. A personnel bunker behind the road, and an anti-tank gun casemate integrated into the 'Panzermauer' wall here. Both bunkers survive, the anti-tank bunker is cared for by Festung Guernsey and the personnel bunker is buried.
Purpose
Work in conjunction with Wn. Dohlenturm and Wn. Dohlenfels to engage a landing force with artillery and machine guns when landing at L'Ancresse.
The type 676 anti-tank gun casemate neatly integrated into the Panzermauer.
