Naumanshöhe was the name given to the impressive harbour blocking battery established within the grounds of Les Côtils. The site comprised four 10.5cm K331(f) coastal defense guns, emplaced in substantial Vf emplacements with adjacent ammunition stores. The emplacements are built into the boundary wall above Les Côtils road. Along with the batteries Georgsfeste at Fort George, and Sperber at Delancey, they were able to effectively repel shipping attempting to enter St Peter Port. When placed in the context of the infantry defenses around the port, it becomes a formidable defensive sector. When Georgsfeste was relocated to Havilland Hall in 1944, the importance of this site increased, being the only battery positioned with the ability to effectively shell the inner harbour.
Fortunately, almost the entire battery survives in a good state of preservation, and is accessible to the public within the grounds of the hotel. One of the emplacements contains original camouflage paint, and a section of the gun swivel is intact.
