Overview
Unter Westberg was located between the resistance nests Kaiserhof and Ober Westberg. Its primary armament was a 10.5cm K331(f) installed in a hollow on the seaward side of Rue de la Varde, which is not visible today. The most visible remains of the site are the weapons positions and searchlight garages atop a small rocky ledge, these are accessed by the tunnel Ho. La Varde. Please take care when visiting as the steep steps inside the tunnel may be slippery.
Purpose
Detection of landing attempts in Rocquaine Bay by observation of the sea and air, and to combat landing attempts on Rocquaine Bay by cooperating with other positions, and protect the fishing harbour in Portelet. Main line of resistance is high tide mark.
