The L403 was a large Luftwaffe design, which housed the command, plotting and rangefinding for a Fortress Standard 8.8cm Flak battery. It is differentiated from the L404 (of which no examples exist on Guernsey) by the emplacement layout ontop. It was built twice here, once at Batterie Rabenstein, and another at Batterie Dolmen. Today, the example at Rabenstein is inaccessible and forms the foundations of a house (although the substantial bunker is well preserved), and the example at Dolmen is in the care of Festung Guernsey.
